Valentine's Day is a fun holiday celebrated largely here in the United States and around the world. Its the day we celebrate our relationships and honor our significant others with tokens of appreciation like flowers, candy, jewelry, dinners and or other lavish gifts. Either way, its become a huge holiday kind of like Christmas where we get very bombarded with the "gift" idea and maybe don't even know where or why Valentine's Day is celebrated. So, of course I have to tie Valentine's Day history and being Italian into one post. I found a very detailed explanation via the History channel about Valentine's Day, and its Roman derivatives. Yes, we as Italians own love, embrace it! Enjoy.

History Channel Presents: The History of Columbus Day.
History is part of everything we know. Learning about the events surrounding Columbus Day is a great way for Italian-Americans and all Americans to learn more about their country.
History Channel is one of my favorite networks for documentary and historical programming.
